This blog is designed to help us keep a journal of our falconry events. Gun is a Tercel Anatum Peregrine Falcon which is being trained by Dal McBride and was bred by Eric Steinhauer. These birds of prey are the fastest living things and can reach speeds of up to somewhere between 200 and 300 mph.

Check out the sequential images, videos, friends, and other bird pic pages located to the right side of the screen. I will be sure to keep these pictures and videos coming! (All images © Darvil B. McBride)

Scout always wants the kill but Gun is never willing to share with the disgruntled dog.

His first bagged mallard. He was so proud of it and mantling like crazy.

This was Guns first wild duck slip. There were just a bunch of coots, but he got two!  First stoop was a hit which sent the coot ratting out into some marsh. While the dog went off hunting for it Gun veered after another coot which he bound to.  Scout found the coot and the twins apprehended it before releasing the unharmed, but stunned coot.

  1. This is incredible. I just started looking into falconry out of curiosity. It's neat that the dog and falcon work together! I'm certainly going to look into some more. Thanks for sharing!
